Title Research: Get Out

Hey guys , welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be researching the different titles of movies and the titles I will be looking at today come from the movie "Get which I got from the "Art of the Title" website you read about earlier. I will not answer the questions about the opening sequence below.

 1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?

During the opening sequence of the "Get Out" movie many titles are displayed. Specifically the title of the production companies, the title of the movie, the actors and actresses, the name of the casting head, the head of the music for the film, the maker of the music, the costume designer, the editor for the film, the production designer, the photography director, the producers, the executive producers, and finally the director who is also the writer.

2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequences?

In this film, the opening sequence the images prioritized seem normal. When watching a movie, you tend to watch the trailer first and knowing this movie is a horror, but in the opening sequence theres pictures of baking, taking pictures, the woods, and of people shaving.

3. What connotations do these images carry?

I think that the images within itself connotate an even more spooky vibe. Knowing this movie is a horror, you expect to see gore immediately but the fact that these images carry a normal connotation but gives off a scary vibe.

4. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

The opening sequence establishes the feeling of the genre horror because it creates tension and unease through how normal the images are. Knowing this movie is a horror, it becomes more scary because it gives a fear of the unknown as what you expect is not being show . From the opening sequence it seems happy. But, that fear it invokes of being questionable builds the horror genre's overall sense.

5. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

I think this movie is meant to appeal to that horror lover audience. But this movie does it in a special way by using a reverse scare tactic. People expect that gore and fright immediately but here things seem too normal. I think this is intentional as it gives the audience something new and breaks the conventions of horror.

6. How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions, and editing techniques.

Theres many shots depicted in the opening sequence like a wide show of the woods and the road, a close up of the man shaving, and a close up of the man's camera where you kind of get a little fear as its a spider. The editing which were constant cuts like the shots were pretty simple but I think because of how simple it is it impacts you to wonder what will happen next as this is supposed to be horror genre.

Thanks for reading my blog , be back to see the next horror movie I pick and research their title use in their opening sequence!

Scene One- The first scene will start with Mya opening up the door to the courtroom. She will introduce herself, welcome the viewer to the courtroom, and then go look for the rest of the members. The camera will pan around the room to give a full view of the scene. Finally the camera will turn to Charlie and Kai.  Scene Two- The second scene will start with Charlie introducing himself. He would state his name and then, similar to a lawyer examining a witness, will ask Kai to introduce herself. After Kai says her name the camera will pan back to Mya who will go looking for the other members.  Scene Three- The third scene will jump cut to Joey asleep on a patio bench. Mya will walk into frame and wake him up. Once awake he will introduce himself to the camera.  Scene Four- The fourth scene will start with Kyra and I on a different bench. We will be in the middle of a conversation when Mya walks up to us and has us introduce ourselves. After we both introduce ourselve...

CCR BLOG   1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent   social groups or issues?   Our commercial product both uses and challenges commercial conventions. In normal school PSA's, they will usually have some type of message at the end. Within our commercial, we made sure to end our commercial with the message we wanted to get across which was to promote our mock trial team and we ended it with the introduction of all together as one. In one way it challenges conventions because usually school PSA's use normal clothing such as t-shirts, hoodies, pants, etc. Our commercial we took that typical clothing up a notch, and we wore our court attire because it matched more the school PSA we wanted to get across. I think our commercial represents social groups because it shows a group of people who are apart of a team and the group is diverse as well and shows representation. 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be...

Intro Blog

Hello, I am Marvin and I am the son of a full Haitian dad and a full African-American mother. I am the oldest child out of all my siblings. On my mom's side I have a little sister named Malaysia and I have a 3 month old brother on my dad's side named Mayson. In the future, I hope to be a lawyer and maybe even go into politics.  I am not sure what type of lawyer I want to be yet due to the vast variety of types of lawyers there are or what law school I would want to go to. For undergraduate if I stay in state I for sure want to go to the University of Florida. If I'm being optomisitc, I would love to be able to go to an Ivy League school for undergraduate school but using my bright futures might be the best option. Right now, I am currently the Class of 2025 President and I am also apart of the Mock Trial Team. My favorite part of being on the mock trial team is the people for sure, they always have the best jokes and are very supportive of anything anyone does. I like being...
