Planning for my school PSA commercial

Planning Blog Welcome Back, everyone. It's Marvin and I'm here to tell you all about the planning my group and I have done for my commercial! Props: Being that my group and I came to an agreement to make a commercial promoting the Fort Lauderdale High Mock Trial Team, a main prop we will use is a gavel. We will also use other props like a podium and a trophy. Costumes: In our commercial, we will have 8 subjects in total. This includes all three of our group members at one point along with 5 other people who are members of the Fort Lauderdale High Mock Trial Team. They would all be wearing “court attire”. This means they would dress up as if they were going to court. For the boys, this would include button up dress shirts that are long sleeved and could be any color, with any color tie. For bottoms, they would wear dress slacks and for shoes they would be dress up style shoes. For the girls, there can be variations. The girls may wear button up dress shirts like the guys, blou

Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

Hello everyone!  My group decided to do a School PSA for our commercial. To gain  understanding of what a PSA typically contains, my group and I watched a few on youtube to help guide our filming. After watching multiple videos we found that school PSAs typically use filming techniques, such as tracking shots and wide shots. These are used to demonstrate student life and establish the different school scenes. Editing techniques like a shot/reverse shot are also used to record dialogue and interactions between students.  In school PSAs, there are multiple codes and conventions used. For example, PSA will always end with some kind of message or warning. This is used to encourage students to do the right thing and enjoy their time at school as much as possible. The costumes used are what you’d expect to see in a high school. Items like hoodies, t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers can be found on the actors. These actors are often shown doing basic activities like walking to classes and socializ

Intro Blog

Hello, I am Marvin and I am the son of a full Haitian dad and a full African-American mother. I am the oldest child out of all my siblings. On my mom's side I have a little sister named Malaysia and I have a 3 month old brother on my dad's side named Mayson. In the future, I hope to be a lawyer and maybe even go into politics.  I am not sure what type of lawyer I want to be yet due to the vast variety of types of lawyers there are or what law school I would want to go to. For undergraduate if I stay in state I for sure want to go to the University of Florida. If I'm being optomisitc, I would love to be able to go to an Ivy League school for undergraduate school but using my bright futures might be the best option. Right now, I am currently the Class of 2025 President and I am also apart of the Mock Trial Team. My favorite part of being on the mock trial team is the people for sure, they always have the best jokes and are very supportive of anything anyone does. I like being

Group Blog

Hey everyone it's Marvin and welcome to my blog! For the group project, I chose my two teammates to be Kyra Myers and Mya Aly. Kyra and Mya both have media studies a different period than I. While I have media studies 8th period, they have it 5th period. I chose Mya and Kyra to be in my group because I have a really great connection with the both of them. When I first met them, it was almost like an instant connection. Giving some background, I first met Kyra all the way back in 6th grade when we both attended Nova Middle. We both had the same science class. On the first day, we talked for the first time in the cafeteria at lunchtime if my memory serves correctly. I met Mya the first week of 9th grade year in 1st period. Mya would help me with memorizing the material, she would give me the ins and outs, and show me the ropes. All three of us are on the mock trial team which helps our connection with one another. Being on the mock trial team together, we all have to spend a lot of t
