Production Blog: Later than Expected..

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. Last time you heard from me I was in the production process for my final task. I am still in the process and am continuing to write about it. Today I wanted to tell you about a bump we had in the road. We previously made the decision to move up filming and film earlier for multiple reasons. But, today I am going to write about how we had to push the date back but still try to make it earlier than when we originally planned to film. We pushed the date up to film over spring break. But, we had a few bumps in the road. Both my group-mate and I were not able to film then even though we planned to. The reason Mya wasn't able to film is because she had to work on college stuff. Mya is a senior and it is around the time for her to go to college. So Mya had to really spend her time applying for scholarships. She also had to work over the break a lot. She works at a law firm so her job is very important as she is helping lawyers. The reason I couldn't film over the break is just because I was more busy than expected. I had my mom's birthday which she wasn't originally planning on doing anything. But, we ended up spending the whole day out. Mya and I also went to a retreat for another club at our school so our spring break was really packed. Other than the retreat, a lot of the events were unexpected. Thank you for reading my blog see what happens next, this is Marvin signing off!

Production Blog: Editing Blog

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. In my last blog you heard how we finally filmed! Not everything went as we planned but we had to make do. Today I am going to be telling you about the editing process of our film. I actually edited the film on my phone for the most part. The editing process took a very long time, longer than I expected. If I had to give a number, I would say this process took a total of 2-3 hours. But, we knew we had to make up for our filming aspect so I did what I had to do. We edited our short film on this app called CapCut. CapCut is a very popular editing app which I have used in the past. What I mean by this is I love how you don't have to be the most experienced at editing and your edits can still come out great. When editing, the first thing I did was gather the clips. Once I did this, I started to think about all the titles needed. When editing this, I took inspiration from a previous movie I researched. What I did intentionally, I made sure the effec...

Title Research: Get Out

Hey guys , welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be researching the different titles of movies and the titles I will be looking at today come from the movie "Get which I got from the "Art of the Title" website you read about earlier. I will not answer the questions about the opening sequence below.  1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? During the opening sequence of the "Get Out" movie many titles are displayed. Specifically the title of the production companies, the title of the movie, the actors and actresses, the name of the casting head, the head of the music for the film, the maker of the music, the costume designer, the editor for the film, the production designer, the photography director, the producers, the executive producers, and finally the director who is also the writer.  2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequences? In this film, the opening sequence the images prioritized seem normal. When watching a movie, you t...

Genre Research: Comedy

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. Today, I'll continue covering and researching genres with today's genre being comedy.  There are usually very common angles that go across all realms of comedy film. One is the close up, which a lot of directors use to comedic effect. Another is the establishing shot, which is often used to r begin segments. The establishing shots used are also to bring the actors to a new scene with a comedic interaction. Another common one is the POV shot, which is often used during or after the comedic event.  Next, the lights. It depends, but often times are scenes usually light and vibrant to emphasize the comedy, unless otherwise obvious. Acting is vey vibrant, and over the top because a lot of the comedic effect is combined with the actors and the camera to really bring it all to life. Movement is where comedy movies can really shine. For example, if a pole hits a camera and makes it shake to imitate the movement. Props are also really importa...
