Planning Blog: Location, Participants, Health, Schedule

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! Today I am going to tell you about my group-mate and I's plan on our final task when it comes to the location, participants, health, and schedule

Location

The big umbrella location we will be using is Sawgrass Mall. It is a mall near our house and it has a big outside area which is where well film. For the first scene, we will film outside walking outside around the food and store area. The other locations we will film at the mall would be inside a store for one scene and then inside a bathroom, all other locations at the mall would be outside. The final scene will be filmed inside a car.

Participants

In total, we will have 3 participants. Our friend Sarah is one of the actors. She will play the main character in the opening sequence and will be in every scene. We will have another participant, Mya,  who will be Sarah's friend in the opening sequence who is concerned for Sarah. Finally, we will have one other person play the antagonist and will be in 3 of the scenes for the opening sequence.

Health and Safety

We will ensure to take safety precautions when filming our final task. First, in the second scene we will have a very loud alarm go off on the phones of the main character, Sarah and her friend in the film. This could be a problem as people might there is a real emergency due to the loud alert sound. To ensure safety, we will for one pick a store with little to no people inside of it and we will inform and ask the head of the store if this is okay. By us picking a store with no one inside it we will avoid any panic from customers.

Next, in the last scene we will be very careful with the antagonist (the guy with the jacket and the mask). In that scene, they will have to cover the mouth of Sarah to show her being attacked by him. Covering people's mouths is an obvious safety issue as it could cause someone not to be able to breathe. To ensure safety and health, we will make sure to film his scene very quickly and if we need to keep re-filming we'll take the hand off right after and cut the scene. Also, for sanitation purposes, we will have who plays the antagonist wear gloves.

Lastly, we will have to take into consideration also the to protect the other customers from harm and fear. Specifically when filming scenes where we film with the antagonist having a mask, gloves, and a hoodie on we will make sure to film with areas with minimal people. Filming in an area with lots of people, people can take that very seriously so we will make sure to film in an area with not many people or no people if possible to not instill fear for safety purposes.

Schedule

For our schedule, we will make sure to film on the weekend of April 1st. We chose to film on a weekend instead of a day after school so that we wont have to worry about school work and getting home late to have to do homework. We will try to film it all in one day which should be pretty easy due to us not using multiple locations really. We will film scenes at nighttime , to have that spooky aspect and try to stay within the conventions of the horror genre with dark lighting. If we can not film when it is completely pitch black, we will film for sure around dusk to keep that convention. We don't plan on having to re-film or plan on having to reschedule but if we do , we all have pretty flexible schedules to change or add dates and get it done.

The week after that, we will spend solely on adding in our titles and adding in effects. One day we will dedicate to just adding in titles and the next we will use to just edit clips like the lighting, etc and add in special effects and transitions. We will also add in our sound

After we edit, we will begin to ask for feedback from different people. Then next, we will make final changes if needed and incorporate the feedback that we were given and then finally start the process of turning in our final task!

Thank you for reading my plan, we're down to the final steps before the journey is over!

Title Research: Get Out

Hey guys , welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be researching the different titles of movies and the titles I will be looking at today come from the movie "Get which I got from the "Art of the Title" website you read about earlier. I will not answer the questions about the opening sequence below.  1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? During the opening sequence of the "Get Out" movie many titles are displayed. Specifically the title of the production companies, the title of the movie, the actors and actresses, the name of the casting head, the head of the music for the film, the maker of the music, the costume designer, the editor for the film, the production designer, the photography director, the producers, the executive producers, and finally the director who is also the writer.  2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequences? In this film, the opening sequence the images prioritized seem normal. When watching a movie, you t...

Production Blog: Editing Blog

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. In my last blog you heard how we finally filmed! Not everything went as we planned but we had to make do. Today I am going to be telling you about the editing process of our film. I actually edited the film on my phone for the most part. The editing process took a very long time, longer than I expected. If I had to give a number, I would say this process took a total of 2-3 hours. But, we knew we had to make up for our filming aspect so I did what I had to do. We edited our short film on this app called CapCut. CapCut is a very popular editing app which I have used in the past. What I mean by this is I love how you don't have to be the most experienced at editing and your edits can still come out great. When editing, the first thing I did was gather the clips. Once I did this, I started to think about all the titles needed. When editing this, I took inspiration from a previous movie I researched. What I did intentionally, I made sure the effec...

Genre Research: Comedy

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. Today, I'll continue covering and researching genres with today's genre being comedy.  There are usually very common angles that go across all realms of comedy film. One is the close up, which a lot of directors use to comedic effect. Another is the establishing shot, which is often used to r begin segments. The establishing shots used are also to bring the actors to a new scene with a comedic interaction. Another common one is the POV shot, which is often used during or after the comedic event.  Next, the lights. It depends, but often times are scenes usually light and vibrant to emphasize the comedy, unless otherwise obvious. Acting is vey vibrant, and over the top because a lot of the comedic effect is combined with the actors and the camera to really bring it all to life. Movement is where comedy movies can really shine. For example, if a pole hits a camera and makes it shake to imitate the movement. Props are also really importa...
