Our Pitch

Hey everyone and welcome back! Four our final task, my group came up with two ideas :

Pitch #1: A girl has had bad luck with dating ever since a bad breakup with her ex. But, when she thinks she finally found the right one, the romance turns from pleasing and lively to dangerous and fatal.

Pitch #2:  A girl goes out and hangs with her friends to distress. But, on what is supposed to be a relaxing day, it turns out to be a living nightmare from friends who thinks she's delusional to a kidnapper on the loose.

As a group, we loved Pitch A. We loved this pitch because we are able to capture such a complex type of piece. We also liked the idea because I think the idea is broad enough for us to be more creative  But there were many limiting factors working against us. First, we had to look at the timing of things. Being that this video can't be anymore than 2 minutes , we felt it would be very hard to tell this story we would want to tell within that time frame. We felt it would be hard because we would first have to establish her past with men and then translate that to the new relationship. We would also have to establish the good part of the relationship before it turns bad. So, being that we have to do this task as if it's the beginning of the movie we felt theres lots of foundational issues that would be working against us being that it is complex. Also, another reason we were debating this one because it had to deal with a couple. We wanted to try something new since we had just done our music video story about a couple. Being that we did it previously, we wanted to show that we are able to work with varied storylines. We also felt like this tends to be a common storyline in media. When discussing, we were talking about how the storyline sounds similar to many movies we have seen. Considering this, we wanted to expand upon that and try something more unique. These factors we were thinking about must be considered before choosing the final pitch but we are still very intrigued by the idea.

But, we also really were in love with the concept from pitch B. When considering this one, we thought of the fact that we are ending our final task on a cliffhanger. Using this idea, we really felt that this idea would leave such a big cliffhanger. We also think that this idea allows us to use many more types of angles and it allows flexibility. We think that the concept is also cool because it is unique. We think it is unique because when discussing pitches we were thinking about if they are original. When looking at this one, we found it to be very original. Another reason we liked this film is because we wouldn't need much props. We also think that the editing process would take our final task to an entire other level. We think that the editing process would help specifically by the sound. By being able to add in sound motif, we can push the suspense aspect of the pitch more. But there is one drawback of using this idea. One drawback of using this idea would be the amount of actors needed. We want it to start with a group of friends who find the girl to be delusional but this would require more actors. Sometimes just in my group, having two people schedule something is hard so we think it would be even harder to gather a group.

In conclusion, we ended up choosing Pitch B. We decided to choose Pitch B because the pros of that pitch significantly outweighed the cons of it. We took uniqueness into consideration most and because this idea is less seen in media. Also, we think through camera angles and mis-in-scen we can better tell the story we want to tell.

Production Blog: Editing Blog

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. In my last blog you heard how we finally filmed! Not everything went as we planned but we had to make do. Today I am going to be telling you about the editing process of our film. I actually edited the film on my phone for the most part. The editing process took a very long time, longer than I expected. If I had to give a number, I would say this process took a total of 2-3 hours. But, we knew we had to make up for our filming aspect so I did what I had to do. We edited our short film on this app called CapCut. CapCut is a very popular editing app which I have used in the past. What I mean by this is I love how you don't have to be the most experienced at editing and your edits can still come out great. When editing, the first thing I did was gather the clips. Once I did this, I started to think about all the titles needed. When editing this, I took inspiration from a previous movie I researched. What I did intentionally, I made sure the effec...

Production Blog: Filming Blog

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog!  Guess what, we filmed! My group mate and I finally filmed. Mya and I filmed at Sawgrass Mall, a mall near both of our houses. Filming took about a two hours in total. We were on a time crunch so we had to hurry . The person we ended up using to play the kidnapper was both Mya and I's friend Joey. We picked Joey because  fit the type of person we wanted to play that character.  But, Joey ended up not being able to come last minute which we started to panic. The main problem we had when filming was finding a location. Specifically , it was hard for our group to find a family bathroom that fit how we wanted it to look. We wanted a family bathroom so that we can all go inside and film inside the bathroom with everyone helping out. We ended up not being able to find a family restroom. We looked all over the mall and couldn't find one and we all started to freak out. But, we couldn't make one appear so we just decided to scrap that s...

Genre Decision Blog

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog, today I wanted to share with you my group's decision on what genre our final task will be.  The first genre we considered was a comedic genre and this was a genre we spent a lot of time looking at. When looking at it, we liked how comedy and comedic decision is spread throughout the entire media,  for example, you have the comedic and goofy movements with the camera shaking and going upside down. As we reviewed it more, our thoughts changed about the props and we originally didn't like the use of props but as we reviewed we began to see the comedic purposes that props play and that purpose,  it can be the actor using it to do something silly or really anything, and we also liked how we would use diegetic sound like laughing to get the genre across even more. But, there was a really big dealbreaker when it came to part of this genre and that was the dialogue aspect. The reason this was a dealbreaker is because we thought it...
