 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

Our commercial product both uses and challenges commercial conventions. In normal school PSA's, they will usually have some type of message at the end. Within our commercial, we made sure to end our commercial with the message we wanted to get across which was to promote our mock trial team and we ended it with the introduction of all together as one. In one way it challenges conventions because usually school PSA's use normal clothing such as t-shirts, hoodies, pants, etc. Our commercial we took that typical clothing up a notch, and we wore our court attire because it matched more the school PSA we wanted to get across. I think our commercial represents social groups because it shows a group of people who are apart of a team and the group is diverse as well and shows representation.

2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

I think our product engages with specific audiences because it gives a look into clubs on a high school campus more specifically a mock trial team that deals with law. I think this is a perfect way to help us distribute this as well into real text media. There are multiple different aspects, for the law aspect of the mock trial team I would distribute it on commercials through law-related shows. These are shows like "Judge Judy", "Law and Order", and etc. I think this would be helpful because mock trial is a creative aspect for those who are interested in law. For the educational aspect of our commercial due to it being based off of School PSA's, I think I would distribute it through high school introduction presentations or ads in educational based youtube channels.

3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

I definitely think my production skills developed through completing this project. I would say specifically through the filming process. When doing this project, I came across learning about the different types of shots and implementing them through film. Before this, I had no experience with filming but this project has led me to know about the different types of shots, sounds, and editing techniques. I would also say my skills of using what's around when filming when producing a production has improved because we had to do a lot of this when filming.

4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this  project?

Within this project, we definitely integrated technology. When filming and getting the different shots, we used an iPhone 13 Pro Max to film. This phone not only allowed clear takes but allowed easy access to transfer film from what teammates' phone to another. We filmed on the phone in landscape mode. We also used apps like "iMovie" within this project. We used this to edit our presentation. This app, allowed for us to be able to transfer the finished, edited project to our teammates easily and it allowed us to edit with ease.

The Critics Are In !

Hey guys and welcome to my final production blog of AICE Media! It has been a long journey from going to AS level to A Level and you guys have followed me the entire time. This short film has probably been the hardest project due to all the moving parts of it. By moving parts, I mean so many aspects such as the website, the postcard, AND the movie. But, now that we reshot more film for our movie , we were finally within the time frame. Now that we were in the time frame, it was time to hear from the critics. So, in our group we each got 3 different people to view our film and to give us feedback. I was able to get 3 of my friends to view the film. First I sent it to my friend Isa, who is also in media. The feedback that I got from her was that she didn't like the "scary" music in the beginning but she understood the concept. To give more clarity, the music in the beginning  was meant to give off comedy from the quick transition of scary music to upbeat music. This was a ...

WELCOME BACK TO MY BLOG!

Hello everyone, it’s Marvin and I know it’s been a while but WELCOME BACK TO MY BLOG! Last time you saw me I was a newbie to the media world but so much has changed. Now I’m in A level media and I completed my AICE diploma. But, even though I completed my diploma I still decided to continue taking some AICE classes because I just fell in love with them , for example media. I’m now a junior and next year I’m going to be a senior and I have to start applying for college. It’s pretty scare how fast life is moving because when people told me high school went fast, I didn’t believe it. It felt like I was just a freshman yesterday sitting in AICE General Paper and marine science and global perspectives. Now , I’m in two a level courses and taking AP classes on top of that. But since I’ve finished AICE, I would say my hardest class I took would be AICE European History. I really thought I wouldn’t pass the exam but when I got my score back I almost burst into tears because that was the last r...

Production Blog

Production Blog Welcome back everyone! We finally finished filming our commercial. Our group worked so well together when filming the commercial and we all contributed towards the direction the commercial took. When we were filming, we kept thinking very hard about the shots and my group and I were very mindful to use different types of shots when we were filming so we can have a variety. When filming some of our shots on this day, there were some problems where some of the specific scenes did not look natural. One example of this was our 3rd scene. In this scene, one of our subjects was fake sleeping and it did not look as real as possible and in order to fix this problem, my group and I did multiple shots of the scenes and chose the best ones. For our second scene, we had arranged the set properly. We had people sit in certain places,  stand in certain places , and look in a specific direction when talking. For all our scenes, we had our subjects have some input as to how w...
