Group Blog

Hey everyone it's Marvin and welcome to my blog! For the group project, I chose my two teammates to be Kyra Myers and Mya Aly. Kyra and Mya both have media studies a different period than I. While I have media studies 8th period, they have it 5th period. I chose Mya and Kyra to be in my group because I have a really great connection with the both of them. When I first met them, it was almost like an instant connection. Giving some background, I first met Kyra all the way back in 6th grade when we both attended Nova Middle. We both had the same science class. On the first day, we talked for the first time in the cafeteria at lunchtime if my memory serves correctly. I met Mya the first week of 9th grade year in 1st period. Mya would help me with memorizing the material, she would give me the ins and outs, and show me the ropes. All three of us are on the mock trial team which helps our connection with one another. Being on the mock trial team together, we all have to spend a lot of time together. Us spending so much time together contributes to the great connection we have with one another. Even though, we are in different periods we still see each other a lot whether it's in person or virtually which will help us be able to do the project together. Kyra and Mya are both extremely intelligent people and they both are "get it done" type of people which I know will benefit us while doing the project due to them both not being procrastinators so we will have the project done with time to spare. Mya is the captain of the mock trial team so her leadership skills will help us make the video as organized and neat as possible . Kyra is such a creative person which will help our group because she will use her creativity to give us so many ideas of the many different types of shots we can use, the type of commercial, and etc. Due to us spending a lot of time together, we all have adjusted to one another's work style and paste. This will help all three of us because there will be no disagreements when it comes to executing the project after the planning phase and I am ecstatic to have a group with them due to their drive, great attitude, and individual skills. I will edit the project, Kyra will film it, Mya will direct and do pre planning, and we will all split the blogs along the way evenly and with that this is Marvin, signing off!

Production Blog: Editing Blog

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. In my last blog you heard how we finally filmed! Not everything went as we planned but we had to make do. Today I am going to be telling you about the editing process of our film. I actually edited the film on my phone for the most part. The editing process took a very long time, longer than I expected. If I had to give a number, I would say this process took a total of 2-3 hours. But, we knew we had to make up for our filming aspect so I did what I had to do. We edited our short film on this app called CapCut. CapCut is a very popular editing app which I have used in the past. What I mean by this is I love how you don't have to be the most experienced at editing and your edits can still come out great. When editing, the first thing I did was gather the clips. Once I did this, I started to think about all the titles needed. When editing this, I took inspiration from a previous movie I researched. What I did intentionally, I made sure the effec...

Title Research: Get Out

Hey guys , welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be researching the different titles of movies and the titles I will be looking at today come from the movie "Get which I got from the "Art of the Title" website you read about earlier. I will not answer the questions about the opening sequence below.  1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? During the opening sequence of the "Get Out" movie many titles are displayed. Specifically the title of the production companies, the title of the movie, the actors and actresses, the name of the casting head, the head of the music for the film, the maker of the music, the costume designer, the editor for the film, the production designer, the photography director, the producers, the executive producers, and finally the director who is also the writer.  2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequences? In this film, the opening sequence the images prioritized seem normal. When watching a movie, you t...

Genre Research: Comedy

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. Today, I'll continue covering and researching genres with today's genre being comedy.  There are usually very common angles that go across all realms of comedy film. One is the close up, which a lot of directors use to comedic effect. Another is the establishing shot, which is often used to r begin segments. The establishing shots used are also to bring the actors to a new scene with a comedic interaction. Another common one is the POV shot, which is often used during or after the comedic event.  Next, the lights. It depends, but often times are scenes usually light and vibrant to emphasize the comedy, unless otherwise obvious. Acting is vey vibrant, and over the top because a lot of the comedic effect is combined with the actors and the camera to really bring it all to life. Movement is where comedy movies can really shine. For example, if a pole hits a camera and makes it shake to imitate the movement. Props are also really importa...
