Genre Research: Insidious: The Last Key

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Last time, I mentioned that I picked the horror genre for my research. Today, I am researching movies. I am researching movies that perfectly goes with the conventions of my chosen genre, horror. The first movie I will be researching is called "Insidious: The Last Key". "Insidious: The Last Key is a horror movie that was released in 2018. Many aspects of this movie were conventional to the horror genre. When I first start the movie the movie uses a first-person perspective. The use of first person type scenes immediately capture my attention. The scenes are really gritty and they have that conventional eerie sounds. These eerie sounds and the gritty scenes  build suspense and fear that show that horror genre. The dark lighting also plays a factor in this movie when it first begins as it uses that lighting which creates that engaging impact but also still be very terrifying as it should be .One of the most important aspects of this movie is the use of the giving that jump-scare aspect tot he viewer which is conventionally used in the horror genre. This is executed so well that it will undoubtedly leave you on the edge of your seat. The psychological horror trope is seen in this movie and it is also employed, adding depth and complexity to the storyline that sets this movie apart from others in the genre. In this movie another aspect I liked were the special effects which are used effectively for example, the use of green night-vision, which emphasizes the horror to great effect. The use of hidden objects and subtle details that are easily missed adds another layer of keep the audience on edge. However, I didn't like computer-generated effects and it was not as appealing to me. I prefer more natural makeup methods and effects, as they make the horror more believable and therefore more frightening. Overall, this movie is a must-see for horror fans who enjoy a mix of traditional and modern horror conventions. The use of various horror tropes, special effects, and a great storyline make Insidious: The Last Key a great movie conventionally matching the horror genre. Thank you for reading my research be back next time to see what movie I research next!

Production Blog: Editing Blog

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. In my last blog you heard how we finally filmed! Not everything went as we planned but we had to make do. Today I am going to be telling you about the editing process of our film. I actually edited the film on my phone for the most part. The editing process took a very long time, longer than I expected. If I had to give a number, I would say this process took a total of 2-3 hours. But, we knew we had to make up for our filming aspect so I did what I had to do. We edited our short film on this app called CapCut. CapCut is a very popular editing app which I have used in the past. What I mean by this is I love how you don't have to be the most experienced at editing and your edits can still come out great. When editing, the first thing I did was gather the clips. Once I did this, I started to think about all the titles needed. When editing this, I took inspiration from a previous movie I researched. What I did intentionally, I made sure the effec...

Genre Research: Comedy

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. Today, I'll continue covering and researching genres with today's genre being comedy.  There are usually very common angles that go across all realms of comedy film. One is the close up, which a lot of directors use to comedic effect. Another is the establishing shot, which is often used to r begin segments. The establishing shots used are also to bring the actors to a new scene with a comedic interaction. Another common one is the POV shot, which is often used during or after the comedic event.  Next, the lights. It depends, but often times are scenes usually light and vibrant to emphasize the comedy, unless otherwise obvious. Acting is vey vibrant, and over the top because a lot of the comedic effect is combined with the actors and the camera to really bring it all to life. Movement is where comedy movies can really shine. For example, if a pole hits a camera and makes it shake to imitate the movement. Props are also really importa...
